In the past couple of years Snapchat has gained an incredible amount of users. It's not just a tool for millennials anymore. Businesses have begun using this mobile app to help grow their brand presence through advertising and contests. Snapchat can increase your customer engagement and brand loyalty by having them interact with your brand on social media. It can also be used to raise awareness about certain campaigns or announce big news to your followers.

We've compiled a list of 6 easy ways to use Snapchat for business. These practical Snapchat tips can be added to your marketing content strategy seamlessly to help your company stand out among your competitors.

1. Show behind the scenes of your business activities:

Whether it’s another day at the office or an exciting day at a conference or event, be sure to share your activities throughout the day. Showing people how you run your company can be an exciting way for them to feel involved and in-the-know with what your company is up to. Verge Pipe Media keeps our followers engaged by inviting them to come meet us at special locations and showing our workday activities:

Many brands are using Snapchat for events to provie a behind the scene looks at celebrities. Snapchat even has their very own Live Icon for events such as MTV music awards, Miss Universe, The Oscars, and more. For those of you who may not remember the Miss Universe debacle of 2015, here is a behind the scenes look at Steve Harvey before he crowned the wrong winner… big mishap for Miss Universe, Snapchat gold for the rest of the world.

2. Offer discount codes to your Snapchat followers

If you are a company that offers a product or service, try offering discount codes to your Snapchat followers using creative ideas. Promoting different specials on your Snapchat, such as lunch specials or onlilne deals, will keep your followers aware of your company and will help generate traffic. Promoting the upcoming promo code is also a great way to encourage followers to keep up with your company's Snapchat story. GrubHub, known for their unique Snapchat offers, used a pizza to showoff a unique code for 15% off of an order.

3. Show off new products before the rest of the world sees it

Many companies use Snapchat to show off products that haven't hit the market yet. Designers even show off their clothing for new collections before the season begins. Taco Bell has been widely recognized for their social media presence and interesting campaigns. They often show off their new menu items to their Snapchat followers before the rest of the world even hears about them.

4. contests for your Snapchat followers

Another Snapchat campaign leveaged by GrubHub was scavenger hunt. Each day, for 5 days, consumers would participate by sending a Snapchat to GrubHub of the picture of the day. Whoever sent the most creative snaps each day, won the contest. This is a fun way to keep users engaged and have them excited to send your company a Snapchat everyday.

Large companies often have sport stars, vine stars, and even bloggers take over their social media accounts. This can be a great way to have those celebrities’ followers follow your company’s account. While popular companies, such as Red Bull, are able to get major celebrities to takeover their Snapchat accounts, even small businesses can participate. Here at Verge Pipe Media, we have interns takeover the account and show the Verge Pipe Media Snapchat follower’s their day at work and around the town.

6. Custom Snapchat Geofilters

While receiving permission from Snapchat to create your own Snapchat Geofilter is new, it can be done easily if you follow the guidelines. Creating your own Snapchat filter to promote your business can be a great way to encourage user engagement and consumer awareness. When consumers see the snapchat filter they will take a Snapchat and send it to their friends. This can be a very simple and cheap way to create awareness about your company and recent campaigns or events you are promoting. Holister, Hyatt, and McDonalds are all companies that have utilized Snapchat as effective brand marketing.

At Verge Pipe Media, we created a custom Snapchat filter for students at an Auburn University career fair. Using an On-Demand Geofilter, we were able to create the perfect filter, inexpensively, within a short amount of time. We promoted our filter to students interested in becoming our newest intern, and even those who are around the building can see our Snapchat filter and see that we are searching for an intern. This was a great way to encourage students to come see us and allowed Verge Pipe Media to stick out among the other employers.
