Becoming Sterling Cooper & Partners

Posted by admin on Apr 1, 2014 5:03:55 AM

Today I am pleased to announce that the Verge Pipe Media we've all come to know and love will cease to exist.

That's right - all the work of the past three and a half years is about to disappear and I couldn't be happier.

Why? Because we've been acquired by the celebrated Madison Avenue ad agency, Sterling Cooper & Partners.

I'm off to celebrate with the VPM team, but you're more than welcome to read the press release below. Cheers!

New York, NY (April 1, 2014) - Today Sterling Cooper & Partners are pleased to announce the acquisition of Auburn, Alabama based Verge Pipe Media. Today's announcement completes many years of negotiation and meetings to add the best in client solutions for today's increasingly digitally focused world.

The partners commented -

"We are pleased to welcome our newest agency partner and present a new suite of services as part of the Sterling Cooper & Partners brand. This acquisition reflects our efforts to provide quality service in the marketplace," said SC&P partner Bert Cooper.

"As far as acquisitions go, this is front page news," said SC&P partner Roger Sterling. "My publisher and physician love Verge Pipe Media's work, and so do I."

"This strategic acquisition is a win-win. We're marrying together two world-class agencies, and you have to admit, the Verge Pipe Media team has a funky feel about them," said SC&P partner Jim Cutler.

"Our newly formed team is something we can all believe in. Through many late nights and weekends we met with Don Crow and members of the Verge Pipe Media team to finalize this deal. We both have a shared commitment to the work, as reflected in one of VPM's core values: 'Doing Work that Matters.' It was just a natural fit," said SC&P partner Ted Chaough.

Partner Don Draper was not available for comment. Junior partner Peter Campbell added, "This acquisition gives SC&P access to the brightest minds in digital marketing, advertising and public relations. Frankly, I'm excited to visit Alabama for the first time after so much coast to coast travel between New York and Los Angeles."

Deal terms will not be released to the public and the plan is for Sterling Cooper & Partners to remain a private company for the near future. "All options are on the table, including an IPO, now that SC&P has expanded their agency offerings," said junior partner and head of agency operations Joan Holloway.

Newly formed partner Don Crow of Verge Pipe Media provided the following comment, "This is a historic day and I couldn't be happier to work alongside Madison Avenue advertising legends like the team at Sterling Cooper & Partners. For our friends in the Auburn community, I hope you'll join us on Sunday, April 11th at 8 pm at The Hotel at Auburn University for a special celebration. We've got our affairs in order, and I hope you'll join us."

Celebration information and registration may be found online via EventBrite.
