The Atlanta Braves may have lost, yesterday, but the Verge Pipe Media interns definitely won and #InternAppreciationDay was a grand slam.
Don was tight-lipped and vague about where he was taking his faithful Imagineers for Intern Appreciation Day, but we trusted him enough to show up to the office bright and early to see what he had in store for us. Our community manager, Tricia, guessed - or strongly hoped, rather - that we were heading to a Braves game. Some of us were concerned Don might be luring us to a ropes course for some team-building exercises. Thankfully, that’s not his style; and as we traveled down the Interstate, Don produced several tickets from the glove box. Our destination would not be the middle of the woods, but Turner Field. Cue a collective sigh of relief from all of us.
There’s nothing quite like a sunny spring major league baseball game. It was nice to get out of the office and the classroom for a day. This was certainly the best excused absence I’ve ever had.
Now, I have to find a way to make this relevant to one of the main things we’re all about, here at VPM. This is what I got: we covered all the social media bases, documenting all of our shenanigans. Don tried to get some buzz going on Twitter, with hashtags and a few tweets @Braves. We all blew up Instagram, cause pics or it didn't happen right? Although, even without the pics, just looking around the office at all of us resting our heads on our hands is enough proof that yesterday went into extra innings.
We also did a lot of Vines, the first one being posted before we even left Auburn; Caroline couldn't resist riding the ‘rocking cow’ at Chick Fil A and we couldn't resist videoing it.
Here at VPM, we work hard. But we play even harder. We may not have done any trust-falls, but I think our team is a lot closer, now.
