Over the course of five seasons of Mad Men, we've seen Don and the gang woo some prominent clients, from Lucky Strike cigarettes to John Deere (although, that one didn't turn out so well). In the most recent season, however, we saw them devoting their creative energy to less glamorous brands, like Heinz beans. To keep up with the other agencies on Madison Avenue, they really needed to bolster their image - and their profit. the best way to do that was landing a car company; but not just any car company - the luxurious and timeless Jaguar.
*Author's note: the word "Jaguar" should always be read in a British accent
This is an actual Jaguar print ad from 1967.
Here's one from 2012.
While this contemporary ad has the style and class Don Draper would approve of, I imagine he would probably blow (cigarette) smoke in the face of the whole "going green" trend.
