The down low on mobile app downloads

Posted by Don Crow on Dec 15, 2010 3:00:52 AM

Today's release in B2B magazine saying mobile app developers will "appify" everything in our digital and physical lives reiterates a point we've made here at VPM: get your business ready for the Social + Mobile web, or get left behind.

With growth projections shooting as high as 76.9 Billion app downloads by 1014 and revenue expected in the $35 Billion neighborhood, there is reason to believe "appify" may become the new buzzword in 2011.

Consumers aren't happy with companies who merely create RSS or news aggregate apps. No, they are looking for a unique experience for their mobile devices which complements their existing relationship with the business. Done right, a mobile app can even bring in new customers who live almost exclusively in a mobile world. Either way, businesses would do well to begin listening and even soliciting their existing customers on what they desire in a "killer app."

Otherwise your organization may be looking at "appify" in the next few years and thinking, "could've, would've, should've."
