What Right Looks Like

Here at Verge Pipe Media, we've been pleasantly - and unpleasantly - surprised at how local businesses have used social media. Most of them fall in the category of traditional marketing on a new platform, or "spray and pray" as we've termed it.

But every now and then, you'll see someone do it right. Really right.

I've long held that the best, and perhaps only way, for a new bar and restaurant in Auburn to break through is with advanced social media marketing before they ever open the doors.

Today I'd like to compliment The Avondale Bar & Taproom for just that level of effort. They've got a growing Facebook family and regularly post progress photos which get comments and likes. They post photos and then tag the participants and their role in the progress. How novel!

What they're not doing is pushing for attention and affection. They're just steadily building and sharing, sharing and building and the fans are coming by way of engaged world-of-mouth - just like they should be.

No contests, gimmicks, spam or annoying suggestions.

Kudos to you Avondale Bar. I look forward to opening night!
