Everyone has heard of Guerrilla Warfare, but how many people have heard of Guerrilla Marketing?

Guerrilla Marketing is defined as innovative, unconventional, and low-cost marketing techniques aimed at obtaining maximum exposure for a product.

The concept of Guerrilla Marketing is based on the idea that your company’s marketing plan will be idea and creativity based. The idea is to create an effective campaign on a low budget that produces results.

  1. User friendly and informative website

First, it is important to have a user friendly and informative website. Your website should be well structured and easy to navigate. You will want to make sure that your organization’s mission is clearly stated on the website and the social media accounts, as well as how you are planning to accomplish this mission. Many organizations do not recognize the importance of web architecture and using social media for business, but it can really make all the difference.

  1. Think outside the box and be willing to take risks

Another thing that is required in order to have an effective Guerrilla Marketing campaign is the willingness to take risks.

Guerrilla Marketing is not about putting money into a campaign, it is instead about putting in time and imagination.

Your organization needs to come up with creative ideas, and be willing to take risks and experiment with them. You will never know if something works if you don’t take the risk and try it.

Thinking outside of the box is so important for Guerrilla Marketing. Some examples include:

  • Send your message using chalk on a sidewalk
  • Make stickers or koozies and hand them out for free
  • Be sure to have interactive social media accounts
  • Do a demonstration where your audiences may be located
  • Sponsor an event
  • Donate to charity
  • Hold an interactive event/contest
  • Create a video that will go viral

Those are just a few examples, but there are endless ways to cheaply and creatively execute your organization’s goals and ideas.

  1. Be interactive

Something else that is important in Guerrilla Marketing is responding to feedback. In any marketing campaign this is important, but it is extra important in a Guerrilla Campaign. Because you are on a low budget, you want your audiences to know that you are trying hard to make this campaign work and that you care about what they have to say. With that said, respond to feedback, answer questions, consider suggestions.

You want to make sure that your organization’s website and social media accounts are up to date. Think out of the box and be hands-on so that you can better save money. Make sure to be interactive with you consumers.
