Everyone wants to have more and more engagement on social media. Be it their personal account or their business, traffic is good, and it's what the end goal usually is for a social media strategy. While social media is just one way for your business to get discovered, increasing traffic on social media could be the key to having your brand found.

So, how do you increase your content's online traffic?

Here are a few tips:

1. Promote on Social

Social media is a fundamental tool in today’s society. Among its many powers, social media has the power to promote! If you can develop a social media plan that determines when you will post and what platforms to post to, then you can strategically promote your brand all over social. You can link to your website or blogs on every social media outlet, just make sure to tailor your posts to each specific platform and don't sound too robotic.

2. Pay attention to appeal

How does the link that you are sharing on Facebook or Twitter look? Is it a boring hyperlink, or is a visually appealing picture or video clip? It has been proven that including a picture or video in a social media post increases engagement over 100% more than not including one. The visual is not the only thing that is important though, you will also want to make sure your headlines are well thought out, catchy and to the point.

3. Use long-tail keywords

Long-tail keywords can be effective because there is less competition for them. You are more likely to rank higher on search engines when using them. For instance, if you're an owner of a small coffee shop, you probably aren't going to be able to compete using the keyword "coffee shop." If you use something like "coffee shop in (your town), (your state)," then you'll have a much better chance at being found. Make sure the keyword is something that your intended audience would type into google to try and find a business or product like the one you're promoting. Again, you're going to want to sound natural, not like a robot.

4. Use internal links

Internal links can be highly effective if you include them in your content. These are links that your audience will click that will then guide them to another one of your pages. Inserting these links can increase web traffic because they are then clicking on a variety of your pages to find out the different information that your company has to provide. People stay on your website longer and read more of your content. It's a win-win.

5. Make sure your site is speedy and easy to navigate

This is the last tip I will give, but it most certainly is not the last thing there is to help increase social traffic. If one of your audience members does decide to click on your link with the appealing picture and catchy title, but the link doesn't work or has no direction, then they probably won't want to return to your site. It's important to make sure that every aspect of your company’s site works and that there are no coding issues. It needs to be easy for people to navigate through so they will want to come back.
