Potential With Podcasting

Podcasting was considered to be a dying medium 10 years ago. Now, it has gained popularity and is continuing to grow. The surge hasn’t been anything like the Snapchat explosion, but it has grown and will continue to bring more listeners in which makes it an important part of your inbound marketing strategy. Growing your business is a top priority, so why not try something new to reach a brand new audience? Still unconvinced? Here are a few reasons why your business should add podcasting to your inbound marketing mix:


Podcasting has gained popularity, but it isn’t too busy yet.

Hear me out. There is definitely room in the market for you to establish your business as a thought leader through podcasts. The industry is still growing and when it does explode, think of how many more people you will be able to reach. Edison Research reported that one-third of Americans over the age of 12 have listened to podcasts. That’s a lot of people listening in and even more potential ears in the future.

It lets you cater to your customer’s wants.

Take some time and go through your comment sections on social media or on your website. What are people asking for? Are they looking for more information on a specific topic or entertainment? As a business, giving your customers what they want should be at the top of your priority list. With podcasting, you can sit down and take the time to give them exactly what they want, and they can listen to it whenever is best for them.

It is a great conversational tool.

Have a conversation. Bring someone in for an interview or host a panel and ask the questions that your customers want answers to. Bring some new voices into the mix and keep people engaged. This is a great way to keep things fresh. Your customers will be able to have their questions answered by an authority and will be able to hear it come straight from their mouth.

Build your content library.

Think of podcasting as a new way to blog; but instead of writing down your thoughts for the world to read, they can hear them. They can listen to it while they are at work or driving. Podcasting is a great way to not only reach new ears, but to keep your current ones intrigued. They also mix well with other platforms. You can talk about your most recent blog post that garnered attention, or promote an event that is coming up. Anything new and fun and worth a conversation is good content to be pushing into your podcast library.

Podcasting may not be the next Instagram or Snapchat, but it definitely has its place in your inbound marketing strategy. With some conversation, a little creativity, and a lot of work, your podcasts can bring your message to new ears and grow your business.
