What a Job in Inbound Marketing Can Teach You Regardless of Major

As someone who has always answered the cliché “so what is your major” question with a sigh and a long explanation, I’m used to having to explain the value in having such an interdisciplinary major. For a little background on myself, I am studying Natural Resource Management, Communication, and Hunger Studies. (Which according to @CodyLunsford_ means I’m the mayor of Zootopia or a professional tree hugger with a few other things mixed in…) So where does marketing fit in? To most people, I would appear to be vastly underqualified to work in marketing as I have no formal education on it, but a job in social media and inbound marketing is about so much more than formal marketing education.

Ways Your College Can Inform Students About Internships

Although students may not believe it most of the time, colleges really do want them to succeed!  Through the daily struggles of balancing class schedules, homework, tests and required events for class, students tend to think their college is looking for them to fail.  However, most colleges are simply trying to challenge students in different ways in order to get them ready for the real world. 

Speaking of the real world... have you thought about internships? Most colleges have done a great job of explaining to students why internships are so important and helpful. If yours hasn't, then read this blog on why internships are important. However, has your university really done a good job of telling students about specific internship opportunities?  Students may understand that internships are important, but many of them don't know where to turn when it is time to actually find one.
