Posted by Alex Pogue on Mar 6, 2019 12:50:00 PM

When it comes down to interviewing, there is not one specific recipe for success. All companies are unique in their own way. You must fit the company culture and that can look different for everyone and every organization.

Are Hashtags Still #Relevant?

Posted by Melissa Cook on Dec 4, 2018 3:39:51 PM

Eleven years ago, the very first hashtag was typed and put into the world. In the early days of Twitter, content was a bit of a free-for-all, and users wanted a way to find content relevant to them, so the hashtag was born! Twitter launched them in 2007, Instagram in 2010, and Facebook in 2013, allowing users to better find content they wanted to see and less of what they didn't (#inbound...). Fast forward to 2018 and hashtags have taken over some platforms, faded on others, and remained stagnant in others. Are they still relevant and useful? Or are they seen as being a fad? Let's dive in.

How to Create an Effective Instagram Ad

Posted by Melissa Cook on Jun 6, 2018 8:01:00 AM

You’re scrolling through Instagram, looking at pictures of dogs or friends and family on vacation, and then all of a sudden, you see an image that makes you stop and take notice. It isn’t until you click on the profile or the image that you realize it was an ad.

Good or bad, effective or not, they exist, and their usage is on the rise. But why? For a few simple reasons:

  1. Instagram/Facebook Integration
    1. As a business, you can (and should!) integrate your Facebook and Instagram pages (read more on this below). This allows you to take previously curated audiences, interests, forms, etc., and carry them over into Instagram ads.
  2. Aesthetic and Organic Feel
    1. Instagram ads tend to perform better because they flow naturally in your audience’s feed. They don’t feel disruptive and if done right will appear as natural and organic content, and not an ad.
  3. Audience and Engagement Rates
    1. Did you know that 80% of Instagram users follow a business? That means your business is more likely to have high engagement rates with your ads.

Think you’re ready to learn how to create an effective Instagram ad? Let’s get started!

Facebook News Feed Changes and Your Business Page

Posted by Don Crow on Feb 12, 2018 5:00:00 AM

I'll admit that I'm one of the folks who spends less time on Facebook. A lot less time. Heck, I even uninstalled the app from my phone. Apparently I'm not alone, as Mark Zuckerburg and Facebook announced on January 31st, 2018 that overall usage has dropped by "roughly 50 million hours every day."

Couple that eye-popping stat with a drop of 1 million daily active users in the USA and Canada and the impact of the content we're all seeing in our news feed becomes supremely important. We're tuning out, "fake news," incessant political posts from high school friends you barely remember, and recipes on full blast from the half of the population who don't use Pinterest. We're instead liking and sharing animal videos, memes, personal triumps (and admitted failures), or we've just jumped ship altogether (enjoy Instagram!).

The Importance of Social Media Analytics

Posted by Don Crow on Dec 7, 2017 12:00:00 AM

Social Media has given individuals an unprecedented level of authority when it comes to shaping the business narrative. Even casual readers of the Verge Pipe Media blog over the past seven years know that we embrace using social media in all phases of the buyer's journey. New readers have no doubt noticed on their own the outbound marketing days meant the marketers were in charge, dictating what products and services we were exposed to through massive spends on TV, print, radio, spam, direct mail and telemarketing.

Those days are gone but not forgotten based on the number of organizations we still see spending money on dumb s&*t. But you don't have to be in that group! A great way to start leveling up is to take what you have from all of your social media and online platforms and understand the importance of social media analytics.
