One campaign ends and another begins. With #SummerSocial recently coming to a close (expect a recap/evaluation blog post soon), we are moving on to bigger and better things. We’re small, but we’re powerful, and here’s what we want to do:
BRING DARIUS RUCKER TO AUBURN FOR THE SOUTH CAROLINA VS. AUBURN GAME.
Yes, folks. THE Wagon Wheeling, Hootie and the Blowfishing, Darius Rucker.
Here’s the breakdown:
Who: Darius Rucker (duh.)
What: Verge Pipe Media Birthday Tailgate
Where: At our (secret) tailgating spot located on Auburn University’s campus
When: Saturday, October 25 for the South Carolina vs. Auburn game
How: Twitter. We’re launching a full-blown Twitter campaign to get Darius Rucker to see us and consider our offer. We’ll be posting videos, infographics, witty tweets and pictures with the hashtags #WeWantDarius and #BringDariustoAuburn.
Why: Here’s where it get’s good....
Don Crow, Founder and Chief Imagineer of Verge Pipe Media, was born in Ninety Six, South Carolina. That's right, "Ninety Six" is the name of the town and no, that's not the population. He was born into an Auburn Tigers family, but that didn't stop Don from loving the home state Gamecocks too (although he admits it was easier when the Gamecocks were in the ACC).
Don was excited to return to South Carolina for his last stop in the Army at Fort Jackson, near Columbia. He has always been a big fan of South Carolina based Hootie and the Blowfish, and has continued listening to Darius Rucker throughout his solo career. One of his favorite Hootie moments was seeing the band perform live for a St. Patrick's Day block party in Five Points.
After his time in the military and a few years at AOL, Don started Verge Pipe Media in September, 2010. And if you know us, you know we love an excuse to party. This year, we want to celebrate our fourth birthday by hosting a huge tailgate for the South Carolina vs. Auburn game, including plenty of food, even more booze and our man, Darius Rucker.
We can’t do it without your help, so stay tuned for updates from Verge Pipe Media on how to get involved and how to win a VIP pass to come tailgate with us (and maybe Darius) on October 25th.
That’s all for now.
What do you think, Darius? We’re not asking for a concert or a photoshoot or even autographs, we just want you (and your son) to come kick back, relax and tailgate with us in your Gamecocks gear. You in?
