In 2007, Apple introduced a revolutionary product that drastically shaped the future of technology as we know it. You may have heard the name a few times; it’s called the iPhone. Over the years, Apple has released an innovative and new iPhone version every year. Although some models have been more successful than others, the newest addition has launched us even further into the futuristic world of technology.
The launch of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus was predicted to not be as successful as its predeccessors, but it ended up being a key moment in the history of Apple. Since the phone wasn’t as transformative as most of the public was hoping for, many decided to categorize it as a boring upgrade. However, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus has actually broken the record for the number of pre-order sales. Given what seems like a smaller step in upgrade for Apple's normal standards, why was the iPhone 7 so successful?
Apple, once again, has added new features to the iPhone that has taken the mobile world into a frenzy.
One of the most recognized updates has been the quality of the camera. The 4.7 inch iPhone 7 is said to have a camera sensor with optical image stabilization. Not to mention, the 5.5 inch iPhone 7 Plus features a dual-lens camera that has double the advantages.
Another attractive upgrade of the phone is that it is now water-resistant. You probably couldn’t go for a swim with your new iPhone 7 in hand, but it’s still nice to have more protection for accidental spills or drops in liquid. Additionally, the home button is actually not a real button at all anymore. Due to its new 'taptic engine' within the device, there is no longer a clicking noise, but more of a vibration. This has been said to help with technical issues and also advance the mechanics within the iPhone.
Regarding the vanity of the iPhone, they have added two new color options: Jet Black and Black. Apple sold out of the Jet Black iPhone 7 Plus within hours of pre-order opening online. This pushed back delivery dates of the Jet Black iPhone until November. The normal Black has also been one of the most demanded products.
As usual, Apple fans camped out infront of certain store locations on the official release date (September 16) in hopes to purchase their shiny new iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus. However, all versions of the iPhone 7 Plus weren’t available in stores on the official release date because they all sold out during the pre-order as well. The regular iPhone 7 was there to purchase.
Personally, I’ve been a huge advocate of Apple products ever since the 1st generation phone came out and recently purchased the iPhone 7 Plus in Black. At first, I was a little hesitant to upgrade knowing that Apple will probably release an entire new body with next year’s phone for the iPhone’s 10th anniversary. However, I definitely don’t regret my decision to upgrade.
Technology is always changing. Apple knows how to keep up with, better yet surpass, its competitors. All of the new features are solid advances, and it helped Apple gain even more power than they have already had.
Apple has been successful because they know what their audience wants. They research what they should change about their products, then they make it happen. They think of the most futuristic technological advances of a device, and they create it. They always stay ahead of the game when it comes to the future of technology, and they don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
It is pretty clear why the iPhone 7 is successful. With all of this being said, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have been deemed some of the most impressive, and innovative, pieces of technology to arise in 2016.
